SIEGENIA GROUP History

More than 100 years of experience.

For the room comfort of the future.

The SIEGENIA GROUP develops solutions that bring spaces to life. With an innovative and wide ranging product portfolio for modern window systems, door systems and comfort systems. KFV Karl Fliether GmbH & Co. KG covers the entire field of modern locking systems for doors. Our complete range is rounded off by SIEGENIA-AUBI Sicherheits- Service GmbH: with products and services concerning burglary protection and window repair.

The prospect of new room comfort is the theme of the future. We need the past to be able to design both sensibly and responsibly. Because tradition is the ideal basis for sustainable innovation. Even if we didn’t call it “room comfort” before, we have been working on this for over 100 years. .

* * * * *

2018.
KFV has written a success story with innovative locking technology for doors. Now the subsidiary of the SIEGENIA GROUP starts its anniversary year: in 2018, KFV proudly turns 150. With several new and further developments, the German market leader of multi-point locking systems documents its continuing innovative strength and is today one of the leading lock manufacturers in Europe.

2017.
Founding of SIEGENIA INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED in New Delhi.

New construction of a production hall in the Poland plant. This means there is now 14,500 m2 of production and storage areas available, including a workshop and office building with social rooms.

2016.
Commissioning of electroplating plant. The new electroplating plant has been designed for sustainability and energy efficiency and is state of the art.

2015.
Successful launch of the new brand image with an emotional campaign, which focuses on the user benefits – and therefore makes it possible to experience room comfort.

The new slogan underlines what has always been an integral part of our product philosophy: SIEGENIA is room comfort. Because with our products and solutions we bring spaces to life and give people a sense of well-being.

SIEGENIA sets up a PartnerNetwork. It includes the provision of promotional materials and product documentation, training and a listing in the end user supplier search.

2014.
Investment in both the future and in the location are a clear commitment to the products “Made by SIEGENIA”. The company’s centenary motto, “More drive than ever” underlines the fact that the group will continue to strive to make windows and doors functional and to ensure that fresh air is something everyone should experience.

The current new construction of an exhibition centre with integrated test centre, together with the building of a state-of-the-art surface treatment plant in Niederdielfen are an indication of the company’s continuous modernisation process.

Currently, more than 2,800 employees worldwide look after the development, production and sales of products with the SI and KFV trademarks to customers in 80 countries around the world. “The ideas and guiding principles of my great grandfather, grandfather and father have endured, but only innovations and constant constructive change will ensure the continued existence of our company.”

At the main site in Niederdielfen, SIEGENIA opens a company daycare facility. Its purpose is to make it easier for employees to return to work and to further increase the number of women in the workforce and in management positions.

2013.
New challenges will emerge for SIEGENIA as a result of a world that is becoming increasingly more tightly networked. SIEGENIA products, for example a motorised entrance door lock, a motorised window or sliding door drive, or an energy-efficient, multi-functional ventilation device, can be used in various ways in an “intelligent and networked house” and controlled via a smartphone or the home management system.

Today, each of the four German manufacturing sites is responsible for the development and production of one particular product range within the broad SIEGENIA product portfolio; the manufacturing site in Poland has taken on the manual assembly operations which are no longer cost-effective in Germany and the manufacturing site near Peking supplies the Chinese and Asian markets.

2008.
2008 is the year in which the SIEGENIA-KoPiBo (3D-ComfortMushroomBolt) begins its triumphant march through the TITAN AF hardware range. As the result of its flexible height adjustment, the KoPiBo always compensates for airgap tolerances perfectly and thus reduces adjustment time considerably. Window installers are delighted by it and window users appreciate how easy the smooth-running window is to use.

SIEGENIA-AUBI is the first hardware manufacturer in the world to get the ift Q-certification mark.

2007.
All components that are not cut to length have the new ”Click-Coupling Point“ This coupling point enables linkage and extensions to be installed very quickly. These components are simply pushed in and the coupling point snaps in automatically.

2006.
2006 SIEGENIA acquires the German market leader for high quality door hardware and locking systems, KFV Karl Fliether GmbH & Co. KG in Velbert. This acquisition completes the product range of SIEGENIA, making the company one of the leading providers of integrated solutions and systems for window and door functionality, and the decentralised ventilation of rooms.

2005.
The ventilation technology product group moves to the Lehnscheid site in Wilnsdorf.

2004.
2004 sees the founding year of the SIEGENIA-AUBI Sicherheits-Service GmbH with its site in Reinsfeld, which specialises in products, solutions and services for retrospective intruder protection on pre-installed windows and for window repairs.

2003.
Five years after the acquisition, AUBI Baubeschläge GmbH and SIEGENIA-FRANK KG are merged to form the existing SIEGENIA-AUBI KG.

2002.
Simultaneously, the company brings out another innovation into the market, which revolutionises the manufacturing process for window production: the TITAN iP hardware system enables hardware components to be fitted prior to assembly for the first time, offering huge flexibility.

2000.
Between 2000 and 2004 SIEGENIA opens plants in China and Poland to serve the rapidly expanding markets in Asia and Eastern Europe.

1999.
In 1999 SIEGENIA introduce a further innovation in the form of the first parallel window hardware (PAF). The window sash can be partially opened parallel to the frame for night ventilation and the window is also intruder resistant to RC2 in the night ventilation position.

1998.
And from AUBI a development emerges, which is now an industry standard: the so-called “sash lifter”, which continues to lift the window sash even when sashes start to drop over time as a result of their own weight.

With the acquisition of the AUBI Baubeschläge GmbH in Hermeskeil (Rheinland-Pfalz) in 1998, Wieland Frank expands the product and customer portfolio, thereby laying additional and important foundations for the growth of the business in international markets.

1996.
With the relocation of the head office from Kaan-Marienborn to the new building in Wilnsdorf-Niederdielfen, the consolidation of administration and production into Niederdielfen – today’s headquarters – is complete. The timelessly modern and exceptional architecture of the new building wins an award from the Association of German Architects in 1997.

1994.
The double-cup routing for corner and top hinges in timber windows – already prepared in the profile – facilitates painting and the positioning of the pivot point components as well as screw fixing.

1989.
The family business sets further industry standards in terms of streamlined window production in 1989, with the introduction of the first clamp-on turn and tilt hardware for aluminium profiles.

In the wake of political upheaval in Germany and Eastern Europe following the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989, the company increases its expansion into other European countries, as well as into markets in the Middle and Far East. Eleven sales and distribution sites are established and the existing ones are expanded.

1988.
The move from the third to the fourth generation occurs unexpectedly in 1988, as Gerhard Frank dies in the October of this year following a serious illness, aged 68. His son, Wieland Frank, aged 29, takes over the reigns of the family business, becoming managing director and personally liable shareholder.

1987.
PSK PORTAL is the response to the demand for greater assembly efficiency, for greater operating convenience and for greater security. The first tilt and slide fitting, which can move sash weights of up to 150 kg is launched on the market.

1984.
In a further section of the building, a new wing with an area of 4000 m2 is put into operation. With a total 29,000 m² of production and warehousing space, the most modern manufacturing facilities provide conditions for ensuring consistent quality. The company employees 700 people and exports more than 20% of its products.

1983.
The SIEGENIA AEROPAC is a high-performance and energy-saving wall ventilator, which keeps road, rail and air traffic noise pollution outside, whilst providing a supply of fresh air even with windows closed.

1982.
With around 1300 m2 of floor space, the new staff building is opened. In addition to a kitchen and dining room and a training room on the ground floor, washing and changing facilities are located in the basement.

1981.
At the start of the 1980s, the product range is expanded to include lift and slide hardware for large sliding windows and doors, and also sound-insulated ventilation.

VEKA AG Company History

VEKA AG Company History
A global market leader in just 40 years.

1969.
Heinrich Laumann takes over VEKAPLAST, a producer of PVC-U roller shutter and building profiles. At that time, the company had just eight employees – now it has a global workforce of more than 5,200, 1,400 of which are at the Group headquarters in Sendenhorst. The company is still, however, run by the family of its founder Heinrich Laumann.

1970.–1976.
In 1970, VEKAPLAST starts preparing for production of window profiles. The first window system ‘Basis’ quickly becomes a hit. The product range is expanded to include residential and sliding door systems. In 1974, VEKAPLAST acquires a 115,000 m² industrial plot in Sendenhorst on which to build a new extrusion plant.

1977.–1981.
Extensive demand leads to a programme of continuous expansion. A new plant with a 41,500 m² production floor is constructed in three stages. In 1981, the first mixing station at the Sendenhorst site goes into operation.

1983.–1987.
International expansion: In 1983, the first subsidiaries are set up in Spain and the USA. They are followed, in 1984, by a subsidiary in France, which quickly becomes no. 1 on the French market. In 1986, VEKA UK starts production in the UK. In 1987, the new VEKA plant in Thonon-les-Bains, France, goes into operation.

1990.–1992.
The company becomes a limited company with share capital, VEKA GmbH. In 1992, VEKA takes on the legal form of a public limited company, providing the structural prerequisites for further growth on the international markets. The ownership of the shares is retained by the Laumann family. Annual turnover reaches DM 552 million.

1991.–1993.
VEKA Umwelttechnik GmbH is founded in Behringen in the German state of Thuringia. It becomes Europe’s largest and most modern recycling plant for old windows. PVC-U windows, doors, roller shutters and profile offcuts are completely recycled and subsequently fed back into the profile production cycle without any loss of quality.

1994.–1998.
Eastern European expansion: In the summer of 1994, the company founds the Polish subsidiary “VEKA Polska”, followed in 1996 by a sales office in Moscow, which is responsible for dealing with all of the former states of the Soviet Union. The Moscow-based subsidiary “VEKA Rus” is founded in 1998, starting production on its three extrusion lines the following year.

1994.–1999.
Asian expansion: In 1994, VEKA starts a joint venture with a Chinese partner in the People’s Republic of China. It is followed by sites in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia and India. In order to serve the Indian growth market faster and more flexibly, the company opens new sales offices and warehouses in 2008. These provide VEKA with 25,000 m² of shelf space for storing profiles and accessories.

2000.
Heinrich Laumann resigns from the Management Board and takes on the role of Chairman of the Supervisory Board. Hubert Hecker takes over as Chairman of the Management Board of the company, which is still run by the family. The subsidiaries VEKA România S.R.L. (Bucharest), VEKA México (Monterrey) and VEKA do Brasil Ltda. (Florianopolis) are founded. The VEKA Group realises turnover of 517.8 million euros, thus exceeding the DM 1 billion barrier for the very first time.

2007.
Hubert Hecker retires. Andreas Hartleif, Board member since 1997 and son-in-law of the founder Heinrich Laumann, becomes Chairman. His fellow Board members comprise his wife Elke Hartleif (HR), Dr Andreas W. Hillebrand (Deputy Chairman/CFO), Dr Werner Schuler (Technology) and Bonifatius Eichwald (Sales and Marketing).

2008.
A second recycling line is installed at the VEKA Umwelttechnik plant, thus raising the total annual capacity by 20,000 tonnes to a total of 50,000 tonnes per year. At the same time, activities are extended on a European level – with the acquisition of additional recycling plants in France and the UK.

2009.
On the occasion of his 80th birthday, Heinrich Laumann decides to resign his last official post as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of VEKA AG. Nevertheless, he remains closely involved in the company which he himself founded and spent his life developing into a global market leader.

2010.
At the end of the year, VEKA SOFTLINE 82 becomes available – the first standard system with an installation depth of 82 mm. The new system, which includes nearly 40 geometric shapes, is one of the most complete profile systems on the market, providing the greatest freedom in design possible for window manufacturers.

2011.
The British subsidiary VEKA plc acquires one of the largest competitors in the UK market. The company, Bowater Building Products Ltd, based in Sutton Coldfield near Birmingham, becomes part of the worldwide VEKA Group. With the consolidation of these two companies, one of the largest suppliers of window and door systems in the UK market comes into existence.

2014.
VEKA Polska celebrates its 20th anniversary. A market leader in Poland, the company has received several awards, both for its excellent product quality and as a trusted consumer brand. A strategically important step for the VEKA Group is the acquisition of GEALAN. Revenue reaches 1 billion euros. The group is now made up of 36 subsidiaries with approximately 5,000 employees across three continents.

2017.
Sales by the VEKA Group, still a family-run company, are stable at over €1 billion. Worldwide, the Group employs a workforce of 5,600 people on 4 continents. VEKA takes over the majority of shares in the Indian market leader NCL Wintech, thus further expanding its position in one of the most important growth markets in Asia.
